After missing league play with a thigh injury, national team captain Son Heung-min has been named to the October A-Match squad.

Oh Hyun-kyu (KRC Henk), Uhm Ji-sung (Swansea City) and Bae Jun-ho (Stoke City), who have been performing well for their respective clubs, have also been named to the second edition of Hong Myung-bo's squad, while Kwon Hyuk-kyu, who plays for Hibernian FC in the Scottish League, is the only first-time call-up.

Head coach Hong Myung-bo announced his 26-man squad for the two October A matches at the Football Hall this morning (October 30).

Son Heung-min, who missed the match against Manchester United earlier today after being substituted due to thigh pain in the home match against Qarabag in the Europa League three days ago, was also named to the squad.

“I communicated with Son Heung-min directly, and I felt that he has improved a little bit, but of course, both he and the club are not in a situation where he can play right away, so we will see if he can play or not,” said Hong Myung-bo.

“It's important now, but it's also important for him to be fit in the future, and it's also important for the team to perform at the 2026 North and Central American World Cup, so we'll find a way to do it without pushing him too hard,” he added.

He added that the team has a “plan B” 토토사이트 in place if Son is deemed too unfit to play in the next two games, including utilizing other resources in his position and even considering additional substitutes.

The squad has seven changes from the A-Match in September. While Kwon Hyuk-kyu, who plays for Hibernian in Scotland, was named to the squad for the first time, players who have performed well for their clubs, such as Oh Hyun-gyu (KRC Henk), Baek Seung-ho (Birmingham City), Bae Jun-ho (Stoke City), and Kim Joo-sung (FC Seoul), were also recalled to the squad.

“Oh Hyun-kyu and Lee Young-joon (Grasshopper) are both performing well, and I felt that Lee Young-joon's style is similar to Oh's, while Oh Hyun-kyu is playing less minutes but scoring a lot of goals in them, so I thought he was a new option to attack the Jordanian defense,” Hong said.

Hong Myung-baek will play an away match against Jordan at the Amman International Stadium in Amman, Jordan, on the 10th of next month, followed by a home match against Iraq at the Yongin Mir Stadium on the 15th.
